( Longious Tailious)

Commonly Known as Common Thresher Shark

A common shark species of Texas waters. The Thresher gets his nickname from the way he hunts his prey. A very quick shark he pounces on schools of fish and slaps them silly with his long tail. After stunning them he quickly return to pick up the stunned fish.. All of this he does while in close proximity of the Texas shoreline which he calls home base.. The tail which is this species most distintive characteristic is about equal length of his upper body.. Anglers will have little difficulty distinquishing this shark from the other shark species that inhabit our Texas water.

Reaching some impressive size and lengths, mature male are in the 13 to 14 foot class and over a hundred pounds.. Anglers that go after this particular species should bring along some stout tackle to handle the job at hand.. And remember to keep what you need and release the other to fight another day...
