One of the bigger rays in the Gulf Coast area. The Cownose averages about 3 feet although
can get much larger.. A bottom dweller like most of his cousins his diet consist of
snails, oysters, and crabs which he grinds in his powerful teeth. Also like most of his
cousins he possesses barbs on his long tails which is why waders should do the old
stingray shuffle when walking the shorelines. And like most other skates and rays the
cowray is not particular tasty as a food source... But on light tackle can give an angler
a nice workout when he is lucky enough to hang into one...
